UK door distributor reinforces high customer service standards with Pegasus Software
JB Kind, the leading UK distributor of wooden doors and associated products to the domestic house build and home improvement market, has upgraded to Opera 3 in order to support its high customer service standards. Having upgraded from Opera II, the business will be making full use of Opera 3’s capabilities, including Financials; Supply Chain; Stocktake; Payroll & HR; Document Management; Credit Management Centre; and Reporting via Pegasus Dashboards and Pegasus XRL.
Based in Swadlincote and with a turnover of over £10 million each year, JB Kind is a dynamic, growing business. Having used Pegasus solutions for over 12 years, the business decided to upgrade its incumbent system to Opera 3 on a subscription model for 40 users, in order to support its current phase of business growth.

MT Services have been working with Bisbell since the late 1980’s, when they were initially supplied with an Amstrad PC and an early version of Pegasus.
Bisbell have been manufacturers of magnetic knife storage products and distributors of magnetic materials since 1971, earning a global reputation in industry fields. The company are continually developing and manufacturing innovative products for both the domestic and trade arenas.
Bisbell pride themselves on ‘high levels of customer service along with a reliable distribution system’ both of which are possible to maintain by implementing a Pegasus system.
Trading internationally requires running a busy telesales office along with a large e-commerce presence. As a vast amount of the products are manufactured in the country they need to carefully plan material and capacity requirements to keep lead times to a minimum.
Three separate systems were being used to run the business, Pegasus Opera II, Sage Act and historical manual production systems, with no integration. Using three systems created duplication or missing information along with stock losses, which made business operations very difficult for Bisbell.
Through consultancy with MT Services, a solution was designed to meet their business needs, enabling a more comprehensive and capable system to be put into place allowing staff to gain the necessary information and audit correctly.
In August 2012 MT Services implemented Opera 3 for Bisbell and introduced 5 new features into this Pegasus system:-
The CRM application allowed them maintain communications to their large / international contacts, whilst introducing the ability to manage sales leads.
The BOM application assisted manufacturing with material / labour management and auditing, whilst allowing production planning with available resources.
The Multi-Currency application allowed real-time exchange rate gains and losses, helping cash-flow predictions.
Pegasus Dashboard has allowed all members of the sales team to monitor business KPI’s in a graphically tailored format, which has helped encourage sales performance.
With the need to retrieve management information from this comprehensive solution required a powerful and flexible reporting tool. XRL (eXcel Reporting Layer) is a reporting tool built into MS Excel and linked to Pegasus Opera 3. This combination allows the familiarisation of Excel with the data relationship power of XRL, giving the confidence for all to produce meaningful and accurate reports.
Having all these components now real-time integrated has given the company a sleek and seamless system for processing initial contacts through to manufacturing and invoicing.
