Microsoft ends support for Windows 7 and 8 support this week

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1 today, January 10th, which means users of computers running these OSes will need to move to Windows 10 or 11 to continue getting technical assistance and software updates.

This means any computer running Windows 7, 8, 8.1 will now be a security risk as Microsoft will no longer be providing any crucial security updates.

If you have devices running the affected Operating Systems, we recommend either upgrading them to a supported Windows release or replacing the device with one that supports Windows 11.

Microsoft recommends that Windows 7/8 users to make the move to Windows 11, however, many Windows 7 machines do not meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11. It may be possible to upgrade to Windows 10 but support for Windows 10 will end on the 14th October 2025.
